125 years pfenning

The history of the pfenning Group began exactly 125 years ago today. On September 16, 1899, the first entry of a milk trader appears in the Viernheim trade diary. This was the birth of a company that was deregistered and re-registered several times during the war years. Always there: founder, milk trader, hauler and coachman Martin Faber. With his milk transports, he played an important role in society even back then – after all, the average per capita consumption of milk at the time was almost 150 liters (about three times as much today). His daughter Elisabeth Faber obtained her truck driver’s license in the 1920s and joined her father’s business shortly afterwards. With her husband Johann, the name Pfenning appears for the first time, and in 1949 the #forwarding company of the same name is founded.

Today, 125 years and many challenging times later, the former dairy company has become a group of companies operating throughout Europe. The range of services now extends far beyond the transportation of foodstuffs and is more diverse than ever. The Pfenning family is still firmly anchored today, combining the company’s tradition with modern values on a daily basis.

To mark our 125th anniversary, we have reconstructed the history of the pfenning Group together with the Pfenning family and many other contemporary witnesses. Together with countless historical pictures, friends and colleagues who have accompanied the company over the years, we have created a unique anniversary book.
