Store return management for non-food articles in food retailing

A distribution centre supplies all food retail shops in Germany with non-food articles. Different quantities of sales units are moved each day for this purpose – some of which are later returned to the central warehouse as returns.

pfenning logistics is responsible for the collection and quality inspection of all returned goods. The goods are sorted according to item purity, processed if necessary, repackaged and labelled for secondary marketing, and returned to the warehouse stock. For certain articles or sales promotions, we also take on the formation of desired article sets. The entire returns processing is carried out exclusively in automated and software-supported processes – with state-of-the-art IT equipment. In this way, pfenning logistics guarantees transparent and traceable returns handling down to the item level. Even in their “second life”, returned items remain under first-class care.

Comprehensive logistics fulfilment for e-commerce companies

For a consumer goods and medical technology provider with sales via its own web shops, pfenning logistics has developed an individual overall fulfilment solution – and combined various logistics and logistics-related service modules for this purpose. The scope of services begins with interface management of the IT systems involved. All web shops are connected online to the company’s central WMS. Customer orders are thus transferred directly to the order processing system without any paperwork. We also take care of the entire warehouse management as well as the picking of orders by Pick & Pack – and thus save time and money – from the storage compartment directly into the shipping container. pfenning logistics is also responsible for the national and international transport logistics for the route of the goods to the customer. When goods are returned by customers, we take care of the entire returns management – both physically and at the IT level.

A well-known consumer goods manufacturer with an e-commerce platform has entrusted pfenning logistics with the complete centralised dispatch processing of its Christmas business – including the entire upstream and accompanying incoming goods management.

In the central goods receiving department, we coordinate all deliveries – be it goods in overseas containers, shuttle transports with items from the customer warehouse or direct deliveries from suppliers. A demanding task – because the furniture retailer serves numerous customers in cross-channel distribution via its web shops and furnishing stores. Large volumes of goods leave the branch supply centre every day

The entire range of articles is shipped from the central warehouse to the furniture stores. The range of services offered by pfenning logistics includes the receipt of goods delivered in containers, storage in block and high shelves, store-specific order picking and preparation for dispatch, as well as on-time delivery to all of the furniture discounter’s furniture stores throughout Germany. Parallel to the handling of the articles, all goods movements are recorded electronically and mapped synchronously in the WMS and ERP.
