The eCommerce – Fulfillment specialist GILOG expands to Poland

GILOG, a subsidiary of the pfenning group since 2021, expands its logistics activities beyond Germany and enters the Polish market with a long-term customer business. This move secures growth opportunities for both GILOG and pfenning in the border region of Wrocław.

Frechen-Heddesheim, August 25, 2023

GILOG, Gesellschaft für innovative Logistik, based in Frechen, North Rhine-Westphalia, is expanding into the Polish market and opening a 10,000 m² logistics center in the SEGRO Park Wrocław, Bierutowska. This expansion, set to begin operations in October 2023, will serve the logistics needs of an existing customer.

At the new site, as in Frechen, a 360° service will be provided, where in addition to complete warehouse logistics and e-commerce fulfillment, value-added services such as assembly, order picking, display construction, repackaging, and software updates will also be carried out. Freight management complements the service package. GILOG successfully convinced its long-standing customer to trust the logistics operations in Poland by offering a global freight and transit time concept without any compromises in time, quality, or economic efficiency compared to the current German central hub.

The future logistics location is strategically advantageous. In addition to its proximity to Wrocław Airport, it boasts excellent access to key parcel and general cargo networks, as well as strong connections to seaports such as Świnoujście (560 km), Gdańsk (480 km), and Hamburg (650 km). With a hall height of 10 meters UKB, the new facility offers optimal conditions for both high-bay racking and block storage, with additional space reserved for further expansion.

“We are pleased to grow beyond Germany’s borders together with our long-standing business partner, as their commitment to us as a service provider is also a testament to the quality and performance of our services,” said Frank Oelschläger, Managing Partner and Founder of GILOG GmbH.

“The excellent infrastructure of this location, combined with GILOG’s deep expertise in e-commerce logistics, will create a significant added value for numerous companies in the retail and consumer goods sectors, such as fashion & sports, electronics, and food,” added Martin Königstein, Managing Director of pfenning logistics.

“We are pleased that GILOG has chosen SEGRO Park Wrocław, Bierutowska, as its first location in Poland. We are confident that our collaboration will contribute to the company’s growth in our market. We wish our new customer great success,” said Joanna Janiszewska, Director, Silesia, SEGRO Poland.

The new site will be managed by Christian Scharf, GILOG’s long-standing authorized representative, who will serve as Managing Director for Poland and be the primary point of contact for the entire project. Scharf joined GILOG six years ago and has been the company’s second Managing Director, alongside founder Frank Oelschläger, since November 2022.

To tackle the challenges of skilled worker recruitment, Scharf will rely on the in-house personnel service provider be4work, which not only has industry expertise but also a deep understanding of regional labor market conditions. Preparations for the go-live in October 2023 are already underway.
