At the age of 25, Karl-Martin Pfenning, who studied business administration, joined the management of his parents’ company. Quite early on, he developed a feel for logistical trends and turned them into operational successes. Over the decades, the thoroughbred entrepreneur has turned the pfenning Group into a crisis-proof, nationwide full-service provider of supply chain solutions. Today, with 7,000 employees from 60 nations at 110 locations in Europe and a total storage area of 1,000,000 m², 1,000 of its own trucks reliably supply customers and consumers every day. The portfolio extends beyond logistics: car dealerships for motor vehicles and commercial vehicles, metal construction expertise, personnel services for a variety of industries as well as supply chain services for manufacturing industrial companies – the list is very long.
Pfenning joined his parents’ forwarding business in his 20s, first industrialised the transport business, founded the first contract logistics cooperation in the German forwarding industry and realised the outsourcing of their warehousing business with renowned customers. The entrepreneur also developed the suitable logistics properties himself. In 2012, this enormous knowledge led to the creation of ultra-modern logistics centres called multicube, which set standards across Europe in terms of efficiency, quality and sustainability and, despite all the crises of recent years, are experiencing extensive expansion in Germany and France. Since 2020, the patron, together with his management team, has opened up numerous new business areas such as e-commerce, general cargo logistics, 2-man handling, mobility solutions and integrated up to 3,000 additional employees. This has also enabled the company to enter new sectors such as fashion and medical technology.

Under the guidance of our owner Karl-Martin Pfenning, a working atmosphere has flourished that is highly typical of family companies. Even today, the whole Pfenning family is actively involved in the group’s success. The owner’s wife, two daughters and son-in-law hold different positions, working side by side with everyone else in the company. The family atmosphere at the pfenning group offers people the change to grow on a personal level: basic and further training, personnel development, awards for project achievements – there are numerous measures that we at the pfenning group use to create a motivating working environment.
